Like most trail runners I am not going to win the Hardrock 100, ever. Like most trail racers I end my day somewhere in the middle of the pack. Like most trail enthusiasts I do it for the love of the outdoors and the unknown nature of the trails. And, like almost anyone, I need goals to make me better at what I do. That is why I invite you to join me in my goal of running the Superior Hiking Trail in the 2012 running season.

What to Bring

-Water:  With trail breaks every 6-11 miles you will need to be able to carry a lot of water with you while running.  See the “Gear We Like” section for water carrying recommendations.

-Food:  In any run we need fuel and during a run this long and this tough you will need ample calories and salt to replenish your body.  Do yourself a favor and test all of your food needs before you come on this run or you could find yourself in a world of hurt.

-Gear: Obviously you should have the kinks worked out of your gear before coming.  If running this distance is new to you, it is not the time to be trying new things.  If you are a road runner by practice you will be better off in a trail shoe but make sure they are broken in before you come.

-Money-  On this run we will attempt to raise as much money as possible for the Superior Hiking Trail Association so they can continue the great work that makes our runs possible.  We are asking for a $25 check made out to the Superior Hiking Trail Association.  If, for whatever reason, you are unable to donate (believe me, I’ve been there) don’t let that be the hurdle that keeps you from running.
