Like most trail runners I am not going to win the Hardrock 100, ever. Like most trail racers I end my day somewhere in the middle of the pack. Like most trail enthusiasts I do it for the love of the outdoors and the unknown nature of the trails. And, like almost anyone, I need goals to make me better at what I do. That is why I invite you to join me in my goal of running the Superior Hiking Trail in the 2012 running season.

What to Expect

It may be a cliché but… Expect The Unexpected.  These trails are harsh and can be brutal.  Be prepared for all weather and trail conditions.  A good way to be prepared is to buy the Guide to the Superior Hiking Trail and read the details of the section(s) you plan to run.  If you know there is a 600 ft climb 18 miles into a 20 mile run, there is a higher likelihood of success if you know that is coming.  Also do a little map study beforehand and note any oddities that may trip you up once you are tired and are having a harder time focusing.
